Environmental Health and Safety Manager Primary Function: The candidate will plan, implement and co-ordinate strategic and practical safety programs at all Q Holdings locations and insure legal environmental compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations. Primary Job Duties: Develop and execute the Health and Safety plan in line with the business plan. Drive continual improvement and best practice in all key health and safety tasks. Empower various levels of management with the required health and safety procedures and tools. Perform internal audits on plants to check for safety and environmental compliance with Company policies and applicable laws and regulations. Ensure and lead appropriate training for health and safety objectives to maintain compliance occurs. Partner with Human Resource departments to regularly review the incident/injury reporting, recording and investigation processes and information produced. Keep abreast of EPA and local environmental concerns to keep plant's compliance. Respond to current health and safety issues and develop systems/interventions/training/awareness. Develop and track safety metrics for manufacturing groups and produce appropriate reports (weekly, monthly and annually).
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in an Environmental, Health, Safety, Industrial Engineering or equivalent discipline desired, and a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in plant safety. Experience or education in ergonomics is highly desirable. Professional certification in a Safety and Occupational Health or Environmental area preferred. Candidate must provide proof of ongoing training. Skills: Requires professional specialization in industrial health and safety. Be knowledgeable of applicable OSHA regulations and the rules and regulations of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and similar state environmental agencies. Requires well-developed writing and verbal skills sufficient to design, deliver, and communicate training, rules, and procedures; to solve problems and resolve conflict; to investigate incidents; and prepare compliance reports. Requires skill in identifying training needs. Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal with attention to detail and diplomacy. The Environmental Compliance, Health, and Safety Manager should possess strong presentation and training skills. The EHS Manager should have strong
computer
skills to include Microsoft Office Suite products. Abilities: Requires the technical skills to perform the responsibilities of the position. Requires the ability to convert environmental compliance, health, and safety program goals into plant-specific action plans. Requires the ability to conduct audits and training. Requires the ability to respond quickly to incidents and take appropriate action to assure team members of their safety. Travel: Must be able to travel on a frequent basis.
