Description
This position is 2nd shift. Hours would need to be flexible, but in the range of 3pm to 11:30 or 4pm to 12:30.
Talent and Shop Management:
Participates in hiring process and makes hiring recommendations when needed, responsible for orientation and training of techs
Participates in the Performance Management process; helps establish performance objectives
Provides on-going coaching, feedback and training to direct reports
Participates in the Performance Appraisal process as directed
50-75% of time making repairs and doing PMs
Inventory Management:
Monitor parts and inventory levels to ensure inventory falls within minimum and maximum levels
Effectively uses Parts Net system to ensure proper parts and inventory management
Conduct physical inventory counts on tires
Ordering parts and issuing P.O.'s
Stocking parts and bar coding them
Directs purchases toward preferred vendors
Customer
Experience:
Makes customer visits to provide PM recommendations and maintain positive relationships
Schedules time with the customer to bring in their trucks for PM
Educates new customers on the value of ongoing preventative maintenance
Verifies that customers are receiving their PM schedules
Performs PM services within company guidelines
Serves as a trusted advisor by effectively balancing customer expectations
Interacts daily with customers to proactively address scheduling requirements, SOS activity, etc.
Service Department Management:
Aligns and delegates work assignments
Participates with one over manager in the review of branch Maintenance Metrics
Reviews and completes yard checks
Walks the floor to ensure compliance and adherence to all policies and procedures
Partners with Rental and Sales to achieve District objectives
Achieves productivity through one on one coaching and feedback with Technicians and/or CSR's
Effectively manages the technician labor resources

Qualifications
High School diploma (minimum)
Associate Degree / Vo Tech Graduate (preferred)
5
years relevant industry work experience
Fully qualified to work as Tech I or Journeyman Mechanic
CDL (Commercial Driver's License)
Federal, State and Local certifications as required
Technical Knowledge to include: Engine, Drive Train, Electrical Systems, AC& Refrigeration, Accessories, Tires, Suspensions
Industry Knowledge
Basic Computer Skills: Outlook email / Windows programs
Willingness to travel within district (close geographical area), work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a reference verification (to include past employment and education) are required
Ability and desire to work in a positive, fast paced and high energy environment
Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions
